Latest Cocaine Crimes Lead to Several Arrests
Delaware Man Arrested for Ramming Police Cars and Cocaine Possession
29-year-old Phillip L. Brewer of Lewes, DE, rammed two police cars as he tried to flee a traffic stop. During the stop, State troopers approached Brewer’s vehicle when he suddenly put the car in reverse, hit two police cruisers, and sped off. While he was driving, police say he threw out 29 grams of crack cocaine. Police recovered the cocaine and were able to catch Brewer on foot. Brewer was charged with trafficking cocaine and nine other offenses.
41 People Busted in Investigation by NY Organized Crime Task Force
A seven-month long investigation conducted by New York’s Organized Crime Task Force resulted in arrests and indictments of 41 people involved with the “Bloods” street gang. Most of the gang members are in the Albany and downstate areas. Those arrested have been charged with trafficking, robbery, assault and an attempted murder. Police say the gang was responsible for transporting cocaine, heroin and marijuana from Brooklyn and Long Island to Albany for distribution in the region as far north as Lake George in the southeastern Adirondacks. During the raid, authorities confiscated 10 guns, six pounds of marijuana, more than an ounce each of cocaine and heroin and about $65,000 in cash.
Detroit Drug Dealer May Get 40 Years in Jail
A 25-year-old drug dealer from Detroit faces a $2 million fine and up to 40 years in prison for dealing cocaine. Darrell S. Reed pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute five or more grams of a cocaine base. A joint federal investigation by the Huntington Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Huntington Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led to Reed’s arrest following a search of his home in May. During that search, authorities found 40 grams of crack cocaine and a firearm, which Reed admitted to owning. He also told police that he had been dealing at least 780 grams of crack cocaine in the months leading to the search.
Crime Lab Analyst Charged for Stealing Samples
Hermon Brown, 40, of Sacramento, California, has been indicted on felony charges stemming for allegedly stealing methamphetamine and cocaine from a crime lab in Ripon. Brown worked at the Central Valley Crime Lab as a state crime analyst until his supervisors discovered amounts of samples of confiscated drugs during criminal arrests were much lighter after Brown was in possession of them. Brown has been indicted on five felony counts of grand theft, possession of cocaine and methamphetamine and possession of meth for sale by a criminal grand jury in San Joaquin County.
Canadian Police On the Hunt for 20-Year-Old Drug Dealer
A 20-year-old Canadian man is wanted by Regina and Edmonton police on multiple drug-related charges. Vishwanauth Singh, is wanted on drug charges, including trafficking cocaine and possession of cannabis, and possession of proceeds of a crime over $5,000 based on an investigation in almost a year ago by the Regina Integrated Drug Unit, Regina Police Service and RCMP.
